Ishan is a biomedical researcher and resident physician in internal medicine at Stanford University. During medical school, he applied statistical methods to large clinical and genomics datasets and published in leading medical journals including JACC, Nature Communications, and Science Translational Medicine. Ishan recently developed a deep learning based clustering approach to identify novel genetic drivers of diabetic kidney disease. Previously, he built machine learning models to predict kidney disease progression at Renalytix AI and also worked at Wedbush Securities on their biotech equity research team.
Prior to medical school, Ishan was a bioinformatics researcher at UCSF where he applied machine learning to large multiomics datasets in the context of autoimmune disease and preterm birth. This work culminated in a patent and first-author publication in Nature Communications. Ishan received his MD from Mount Sinai and BS from the University of California, Berkeley.
